How bout a nice cup of RAGE? |
Now, I’m not quite sure, since it’s probably been since around 4 or 5 months since I last played the original Black Ops but, wasn’t that set in the 1960s-70s with the big spat in Vietnam? Didn’t Black Ops have a huge plot based off of the evils of Communism, and the long tries of killing Fidel Castro? Maybe I missed something along the way, but I remember there being a clear difference between the whole plot (which was based off of faux black-ops events) and the new faux black-ops events, which haven’t even had a chance to occur yet.
Maybe I’m being a bit hard on Activision, but I stopped liking them after their massive amounts of greed involving the layoffs of the two who founded the company after making Modern Warfare 2, which I still hold as being my favorite Call of duty game, although I haven’t played next to anything of MW3. I always felt that Treyarch was the inferior of the two, knowing that they wanted to put something out every year, but didn’t want to push Infinity Ward too hard, and ruin the overall product. I’m not much of a fan of the whole “COD v. Battlefield” war that’s so popular in gaming today, since from my field of expertise (as a man who has played like no Battlefield games, except Bad Company, and some of the old Call of duty games for a small amount of time) I try to stay out of it, I’m nowhere near knowledgeable enough to really make a big call, but I’m going to throw a conclusion of Black Ops 2.
I know from experience not to just say a game is stupid. My first look at Bioshock made me think it wasn’t something I would like, since a friend told me it was stupid, turns out he was. I’m waiting for Bioshock Infinite, but I can tell you I won’t even get Black Ops 2; if I didn’t bother to get Modern Warfare 3, and even though most of Infinity Ward is gone, I still hold that they’re better than Treyarch, why would I go and buy what looks like an inferior version of Black Ops? Even when I got MW2 and black Ops, I would still play MW2 (back when I was still heavily into consoles, when I was on a period of taking a break from trading.) Because of 3 reasons: graphics, handling, and overall quality. Yeah, COD has one of the worst communities in the gaming world, I can account to my days of MW2. However, looking at Black Ops 2, I’m seeing graphics that look comparable to… Black Ops which was comparable to… World at War. I can at least see the big differences from Modern Warfare to MW2 to even MW3, and even though I still remember hours of me raging because of RPG-7s and Noob Tubes, I still forgave it, since I could run around with commando and get right back at them.
Overall, don’t expect me to be talking about Black Ops 2 in the near future, or even in the late future. I get the feel that it’s just what Activision wanted beforehand with Modern Warfare 3: an attempt to make more money off of a lack of ideas, and trying to make explanations as to why certain characters (like woods) are suddenly back, just because we love them so much. As much as I would love a Modern Warfare 4 with an incredibly luck way to find Roach and Ghost alive again, I know it just wouldn’t be a good story, it’d be just plain bullshit.
